One of the greatest things about living in Dubai is the possibility of travelling to amazing far flung destinations in just a few hours. Long weekend I hear you say……? Let’s go!
Once in a lifetime destinations that were destined to sit forever untouched on your bucket list as merely a distant dream, suddenly become an easy to reach reality.
We love Dubai, we really do, the endless sunshine (though oddly not so the past few weeks), the blissful beaches, the bubbly brunches …. But travelling fills our souls, and escaping the stifling heat of summer in the desert is heavenly even if just for a weekend.
So where to next?
GOA, INDIA – 2 Hours 30 Minutes
India’s tiniest state is nestled into the south-west coast of the sub-continent. Goa’s charms lie in the abundance of beautiful beaches, but if you delve deeper you will find plentiful culture and history, and for some Goa’s main attraction is as a nature lovers paradise.
AMMAN, JORDAN – 2 Hours 55 Minutes
Jordan is a magical place with so much to see and do. Explore the ancient city of Petra, immerse yourself in the unimaginable Dead Sea or be amazed by the vibrant sights and sounds of Jordan’s capital city Amman. This is a country full of culture, heritage and buckets of fun and adventure too.
TBILISI, GEORGIA – 3 Hours 10 Minutes
If you haven’t heard someone gushing about Georgia recently you mustn’t have been listening, this country has grown and grown in people’s affections. Tbilisi’s eternal charm lies in it’s dramatic setting in the deep valley of the Mtkvari River, endless picturesque architecture, a lively arts and cultural scene, and a welcoming Georgian lifestyle have added a whole new dimension to this city.
MALDIVES – 4 Hours
The Maldives are the absolute epitome of what dreams are made of. Gently swaying palms and heavenly turquoise waters, lap the sparkling white sand beaches; whilst houses on stilts straddle the colourful marine life. This is the perfect island ideal to escape from everyday life and have a truly relaxing holiday in tranquil and jaw droppingly stunning surroundings.
KATHMANDU, NEPAL – 4 Hours 15 Minutes
The extra 15 minutes is worth the journey, trust me. Nepal couldn’t be any further from the bright lights and bustle of Dubai, if you need to fill that gap in your soul I mentioned earlier, this is the place to go. Peaceful yoga retreats, visiting monks for inspiration, lending a helping hand in an orphanage or climbing to the first base camp of Everest, a trip to Nepal will make you richer.
